karta– Research Center for Regional Resources, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (P2SDR-LIPI) in partnership with CORE Project, Busan University of Foreign Studies (CORE-BUFS) organizes Global Third Education (GTE) Academy in Indonesia. The program is a four-weeks internship program for students of Indonesian Studies of BUFS and serves as the pilot project in Indonesia. It is held in LIPI Jakarta office from January 8 to February 2, 2018.
In the Opening Session, Director of P2SDR-LIPI, Dr. Ganewati Wuryandari welcomed all the participants and underlined the good relationship between P2SDR-LIPI and BUFS since 2013. “Indonesia and South Korea officially established diplomatic relations in 1973 and since then the relationship between both countries is getting closer. LIPI and P2SDR-LIPI, in particular, have a long and good relationship with scholars from South Korea in many researches as well as academic activities. Moreover, P2SDR-LIPI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on scientific cooperation with Institute of Southeast Asian Studies of BUFS (ISEAS-BUFS) in 2013. This GTE Academy program marks the further cooperation between the two parties and even facilitates the initial cooperation between P2SDR-LIPI and CORE Project of the BUFS.”, she concluded.
In addition, Prof. SoungSuk Yun of the BUFS addressed her appreciation to P2SDR-LIPI for this collaboration so that the program can be implemented. Prof. Yun found the program very beneficial for all the participants. “It allows our students to not only strengthen their proficiency in Indonesian language but also to experience Indonesian culture and society themselves. We hope it will enhance the relationship between South Korea and Indonesia in general, and especially for LIPI and BUFS in the future”, she added.
Nine Korean students are participating in this GTE Academy. During the program, they will be accompanied by students of Korean Studies of University of Indonesia as their learning partner in carrying out their project. Many professionals serve as the lecturer in this program, including researchers of P2SDR-LIPI, professors of BUFS and Indonesian universities, and some senior executives of Korean enterprises in Indonesia, giving the lectures in both Korean and Indonesian language.
